About the museum
The bakery museum in Ottweiler's old town gives an overview of the development of the traditional baking trade. It is accessed through a branch of the Rathaus-Bäckerei on Rathausplatz, so visitors effectively enter the museum through the bakehouse.
Across two floors stand more than 30 machines and around 1,000 exhibits from different eras. On display are, among others, historical baking molds, old dough kneading machines and tools from the bakehouse, as well as written documents on the baking trade dating back to the 18th century. Visitors can see how work in the bakehouse has changed over the centuries.
The museum is run by the Stiftung Stocksches Bäckereimuseum (Stock Bakery Museum Foundation); the Neunkirchen district has taken over trusteeship. Parts of the collection of baker Bruno Stock from Wiebelskirchen were already shown in a special exhibition at the Ottweiler Town History Museum in 2002/2003.
