About the museum
The collection goes back to local researcher Irmgard Friedl, who for more than 25 years gathered and studied Stone Age finds from about 35 sites. Her work made the area around Reutern known as an important prehistoric find site. She opened her museum in 1979.
The display shows a selection of stone tools, from simple hand axes to finely worked arrowheads, plus pottery sherds and polished tools from the Linear Pottery culture (Bandkeramik) to the Final Neolithic (Endneolithikum). According to tourism portals, the exhibits make up only about ten percent of the entire study material. The collection is now looked after by the family.
