About the museum
After the school in Ebersbach closed in 2000, the building was converted into a village community hall, which was inaugurated on December 10, 2004. Exactly one year later, the school museum opened there.
The collection shows teaching materials, old certificates and writing exercise books from 1885, as well as folders with pupil lists and class photos, which have been fully preserved since 1949. In a historically furnished classroom, visitors can see what classrooms may have looked like more than a hundred years ago.
School classes can experience lessons "as in the Kaiser's time" and prepare a breakfast beforehand, learning about the everyday life of rural children in the past. Another room is devoted to the history of schooling in the GDR.
