About the museum
The Lilienthal school museum is run by the Heimatverein (local heritage association) Lilienthal e. V. It is located in the Falkenberg district, separate from the local history museum in the Emmi-Brauer-Haus, and tells the story of schooling and everyday school life in the area.
The centerpiece is a fully equipped historic classroom from 1928 with hard wooden benches, a blackboard, and ink and pen. Numerous other exhibits show how lessons and teaching materials have changed over the decades.
Historic lessons led by the association's two "schoolmistresses" for groups are especially popular and can be booked by arrangement. Older visitors recall their own school days, while younger ones learn what their grandparents' and great-grandparents' everyday lives were like.
