About the museum
The Lilienthal local history museum belongs to the Heimatverein Lilienthal e. V. and is devoted to the local history of the municipality near Bremen. For a long time it was in the Amtsgarten (official garden) behind the town hall on Klosterstraße.
Lilienthal resident Emmi Brauer bequeathed her house and plot on Feldhäuser Straße to the association. The museum moved there and is now located in the Emmi-Brauer-Haus. The building is also the center of the association's work: it houses the archives on local history, changing exhibitions, a library, the association office, an event room and a large garden.
The Lilienthal archive holds chronicles of families, houses, companies and schools, documents on districts, streets, clubs and churches, and material on well-known personalities. A separate Schroeter archive collects documents on the bailiff and amateur astronomer Johann Hieronymus Schroeter, including his original editions of the lunar observations. The association's school museum is located at another site.
