About the museum
The school museum in Ulmen in the Eifel shows how children of different ages were taught together in a single classroom in the past. The collection is housed in the building of today's primary school on Bahnhofstraße, so historic and present-day school life sit closely side by side.
On display are typical objects of a village schoolroom from the 19th and early 20th centuries: school desks with inkwells, slate boards with slates, sponges and styluses, wall maps, stuffed animals used as teaching aids, and the teacher's desk, which hints at the strict atmosphere of the time.
