About the museum

The museum goes back to the private collection of Thomas Höing, who began systematically cataloging his model cars in 1996. On December 1, 1999, a first small museum with about 5,000 models opened in Stadtlohn in the western Münsterland.

The collection grew quickly: in 2006 the exhibition was expanded, and in June 2010 the museum moved into a new building in the Gewerbegebiet West (West industrial area) on von-Ardenne-Straße. There, the exhibits are displayed on two floors and several kilometers of glass shelves in display cases, arranged by theme and year of manufacture.

At its core is what the operators describe as an almost complete model history of the toy brand Siku since 1951, supplemented by more than 11,000 Audi miniatures, over 1,000 Wiking models, and development drawings. In the middle of the halls stand about 90 vintage and youngtimer cars with a focus on Audi and special bodies by well-known customizers. In 2024 the museum celebrated its 25th anniversary; it is still run privately by Karin and Thomas Höing.
