About the museum

Henriette Westinger founded the toy museum in 2010 in the Pleinfelder Tor, a gate tower in the center of Ellingen. She arranges the exhibitions herself from her collection, assembled over many years; the town has no exhibitions of its own in the gate. On display are toys of all kinds that take visitors back to the childhood of their parents and grandparents.

The focus is on Märklin construction sets and around 20 dolls' kitchens. A special feature is a toy shop containing tiny Hummel figurines by Olszewski – miniatures only 2.1 centimeters tall. Henriette Westinger also shows a local history museum in the Pleinfelder Tor, which, like the toy museum, she runs privately.

On the town's website, the museum is listed under the Arbeitskreis westmittelfränkischer Museen (working group of museums in West Middle Franconia).
