November 12, 2026 – May 22, 2027
Interactive exhibition by Plan International on the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals: visitors step into the role of UN delegates and make joint decisions at stations.
The city museum is devoted to the history of Norderstedt and its four founding communities, Friedrichsgabe, Garstedt, Glashütte and Harksheide, which merged in 1970 to form the town. Earlier, the focus was on topics such as peat cutting, agriculture, flight and the changes in everyday household life.
Since 2013 the house has understood itself as a non-school educational institution for sustainable development, and its education programs for children, young people and adults form the core of this certification. The permanent exhibition was newly conceived for this purpose and is now called "STADT.GESCHICHTEN.LABOR.". It asks since when people have lived here, what distinguishes the four founding communities and how the town came to be founded, and it addresses topics such as democracy, National Socialism, work, housing and consumption. In the attached City Lab, visitors can think about and try out the future of the town themselves.
The museum uses rooms totaling about 830 square meters, including an education area and a space for changing special exhibitions. The Schleswig-Holstein Fire Museum is on the same grounds.
