About the museum
The city museum is on Goethestraße, only a few steps from the Haus des Gastes on the market square, and is housed in a former factory building of the ribbon industry. It belongs to the museum offer of the gingerbread town of Pulsnitz, where the gingerbread-baking trade has been documented since 1558, and is supported by the Kulturraum Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien.
The permanent exhibition is devoted to the town's history, the traditional crafts of Blaudruck (indigo block printing), pottery and weaving, and to three well-known personalities of the town: Ernst Rietschel, Julius Kühn and Bartholomäus Ziegenbalg. Visitors can print textiles themselves with original printing blocks. Changing special exhibitions complement the offer; in a small café area, warm drinks and Pfefferkuchenspitzen (gingerbread trimmings) from various bakers are offered for tasting.
