About the museum
The gallery is located in an old town house belonging to the city, next to the Stadtmühle at the entrance to Pappenheim. The conversion was prompted by the donation of more than 100 paintings and drawings by the Pappenheim painter Heinrich W. Mangold; parts of them are shown as a permanent exhibition on the upper floor, including a faithfully reconstructed study of the artist.
On the main floor there are three exhibition rooms, which the Kunst- und Kulturverein Pappenheim has managed on behalf of the city since 2002; it shows changing art exhibitions there. The house was formerly called “Museum bei der Stadtmühle”; after the facade was repainted it was renamed “Städtische Galerie” to emphasize its character as an exhibition house for changing artists.
