About the museum
Police Exhibition 110 is located on the second floor of the Dortmund police headquarters on Markgrafenstraße, directly above the main entrance. On more than 500 square meters, the authority aims to show how varied police work is beyond film and television. The space is color-coded into themed areas: crime, traffic, hazard prevention and operations, police history, and organization and administration.
The exhibits include historic weapons, the protective equipment of riot police officers, and a reconstructed crime scene with evidence collection. A reading corner offers police-related literature from several decades, and a small archive preserves uniform parts, equipment, textbooks, and other items for which there is no room in the exhibition area.
A separate room is devoted to the Dortmund police between 1933 and 1945 and their role in the National Socialist state; in addition, there are guided tours on democratic resilience. An audio guide with 46 stations accompanies the tour. Due to the Corona pandemic, the exhibition was temporarily closed and reopened in July 2021 for individual visitors and groups.
