About the museum
The Weilimdorf Heimatkreis (local history circle) was founded in 1986 and is devoted to the local history of today's Stuttgart district. Its exhibition room, the Weilimdorfer Heimatstube (local history room), is on the top floor of the Old Parsonage on Ditzinger Straße. For the association, it is a goal only partly reached on the way to a proper local history museum.
The exhibitions in the Heimatstube change regularly; the themes range from arable farming by the Linear Pottery culture around 5000 BC to children's rooms in the 20th century. The association also collects objects on local history, builds a picture archive, documents eyewitness recollections, and publishes the Weilimdorfer Heimatblatt.
In the neighboring Old Town Hall there are historical lock-up cells, an air-raid shelter, and in the attic a look at life and work in the Kingdom of Württemberg. The work is carried out by volunteers; visits are possible by arrangement.
