About the museum
Wilhelm Busch spent a lot of time in Lüthorst as a child and later returned again and again, staying with his uncle, the pastor Georg Kleine. He was confirmed here and stayed connected to the village for decades; a memorial stone in the parsonage garden commemorates him.
The Heimatverein "Wilhelm Busch" Lüthorst was founded on March 20, 1997, and the Wilhelm Busch Room opened on November 9 of the same year, after about 25 years of preparation. The town of Dassel initially provided rooms at the Lüthorst primary school free of charge. The display featured reproductions of 20 life-size pictures created in Lüthorst, along with early drawings, private documents, and a selection of letters.
After about 20 years, the exhibition was redesigned with a multimedia focus. The room is stop 2 on the Wilhelm Busch Trail, a walk with twelve stops through the village center that leads, among other places, to the Gänsestall (goose barn), the Turmschule (tower school) from 1598, the family grave site, and the memorial stone. The room is currently not accessible due to construction work.
