About the museum
The Wurzelmuseum (Root Museum) in the Speinshart district of Tremmersdorf is a private museum run by Bernd Donhauser. It shows animals from all habitats that were formed solely from grown root stumps: neither carved nor painted, the beaks, eyes, and feathers look the way they do purely through the natural shape of the roots.
According to the tourism portal, the collection comprises well over 800 root animals, reminiscent of Brehm's "Tierleben" (Animal Life), arranged by habitat in water, on land, and in the air. According to press reports, the exhibition is spread over four rooms; the collector himself guides visitors through.
