About the museum
The Archaeological Museum of Megara is housed in a 19th-century building, the town's former town hall. The exhibition extends over two floors and is laid out in four exhibition spaces.
The collection includes finds from the ancient city of Megara, from the 8th century BC to the 2nd century AD, such as marble sculptures and reliefs, inscriptions and stelae, grave goods and objects of everyday life.
The ancient city of Megara developed significant commercial and colonial activity, as it had two fortified harbours: Nisaia on the Saronic Gulf and Pagai on the Gulf of Corinth.
