About the museum
The Enclosure of the Kokkinia Blockade is the place where the occupiers and their collaborators executed 75 fighters of the Resistance on 17 August 1944, during the Kokkinia blockade in what is today Nikaia. A commemorative plaque was placed on the wall in the 1950s, and in 1986 the site was recognised as a place of memory.
The memorial includes the historic “Portara” gate, the space with the looms of the old weaving mill, and sculptures by Michalis Kassis and Michalis Papadakis. The visit includes a historical introduction to the Battle and the Blockade of Kokkinia, a tour of the memorial and the screening of a documentary by Dionysis Grigoratos.
