About the museum
The Centre for the Study of Modern Ceramics – G. Psaropoulos Family Foundation was founded in 1987 by Betty Psaropoulou (1930–2009). It is based on her many years of research in mainland Greece, on the collection of ceramics that she assembled from the 1950s and on the archival material she created on her research trips.
The permanent collection comprises about 3,000 ceramics, while the archive contains videos, photographs and sound documents on the ceramic art of the 20th century in Greece and is being digitised. The foundation also has a specialised library on the history and technology of ceramics.
Since 2009 the chair of the board has been Yolanda Psaropoulou. The centre organises research, publications and periodic exhibitions of contemporary ceramics, ceramics classes for young and old, and educational programmes for schools and special groups.
