About the museum
The Ekklisiastiko Mouseio Faneromenis is housed in a modern building of the Holy Monastery of Faneromeni, a men’s monastery on the hill west of Lefkada town. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary Faneromeni, patron saint of Lefkada, and was recently renovated on the initiative of the abbot, who also established the museum.
Across three floors the museum displays icons, vestments, vessels and books. They are characteristic examples of church art and tradition and show how the culture of Lefkada developed.
