About the museum
The Angelos Sikelianos Museum is housed in the house in Lefkada where the poet (1884–1951) was born and lived. The house was bought by the National Bank of Greece in 2009, renovated and turned into a museum space, handed over to the Municipality of Lefkada, and officially opened to the public on 6 October 2017.
The exhibition includes personal objects, manuscripts, photographic material and recorded recitations in the poet’s own voice, as well as woven garments of his wife. The museum is small, and a visit takes about 45 minutes.
