About the museum
The Mouseio Spanion kai Endimikon Fyton “Rodanthi” is in the village of Kritsa and presents the natural history and cultural heritage of Crete through the plants of the island. It is housed in a historic building with preserved spaces, such as the traditional kitchen and the underground space with the opening that was used to store food.
The collections include plants used in cooking and folk medicine, plants with intense colours for natural dyes, and works of art. One area displays fossils that show the geological history of the island, while a separate section is devoted to personalities who influenced Cretan culture, from foreign travellers to well-known botanists.
