About the museum
The collection is housed in a four-room peasant house of the Central Hungarian house type, built at the end of the 19th century. The house has rammed-earth walls and a reed-thatched saddle roof, with a veranda running along its entire front.
The street-facing room is the parlour, heated by a haystack oven (boglyakemence) of the Great Plain type. The kitchen also heated the two rooms; here they cooked, baked and did the daily housework. In the back room are the tools of hemp processing, the equipment of a master shoemaker and further memorabilia linked to the settlement. In the pantry, which has its own separate entrance, are the tools of farming, animal husbandry and processing.
