About the museum
The specialist museum was founded in 1987 on the university campus in Gödöllő and today operates within the Magyar Agrár- és Élettudományi Egyetem (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences). Its aim is to preserve and present Hungary’s agricultural-technology historical heritage, and to search for, collect, identify and systematically record the tools of the past nationwide.
The collection presents the development of agricultural technology from soil cultivation to milling, mostly with original museum objects. Its highlight is the collection of traction engines, steam engines, motors, self-propelled ploughs (magajáró) and tractors. Most of the more than two thousand pieces in this internationally known collection are in working order and are used in demonstrations for their original purpose.
