About the museum
The Mudrány Mansion in Szabolcs is a late Baroque building from the end of the 18th century. In the middle of the 19th century, all rooms except the kitchen and the enclosed hall had their ceilings decorated with painted bust portraits of Hun and Hungarian princes and kings. The building is of literary-historical interest: the dining room of the mansion was the setting of Móricz Zsigmond’s famous short story Ebéd (Lunch). The mansion presents the county museum’s applied-art collection in interior settings; four rooms of exhibition evoke the culture of the lesser nobility of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and in two rooms a thematic exhibition presents the history of the village of Szabolcs.
