About the museum
Szigliget Castle stands on the hill rising above the northern shore of Lake Balaton. In recent years it has undergone a large-scale renovation: the Benedictine tower was rebuilt, a new roof was put on the palace wing, and the vaulted passage between the two was renewed. The Tóti-Lengyel gate received a portcullis and a coat of arms, and the Felső-Újlaki gate was further built.
The cost of the renovation was covered from state support and the village’s own resources. The castle welcomes visitors with interactive exhibitions and family programmes, and in summer the castle courtyard is the venue for concerts and other events.
