About the museum
The visitor centre is named after Tóti Lengyel Gáspár, the 17th-century castle captain of Szigliget. It opened in October 2026 and is part of a development that also includes the eight-stop Palonai Magyar Bálint Historical Educational Trail.
The permanent exhibition presents the past of Szigliget through three periods: the archaeological finds from before the Hungarian conquest and the medieval history of the Avasi-templom (Avas Church); the naval battles on Lake Balaton in the 16th and 17th centuries and the sajka warfare (sajkás harcászat); and the Second World War, when an American Liberator bomber crashed near Szigliget on 30 June 1944.
