About the museum
The house where the Blessed Osanna Andreasi (1449–1505), a Dominican lay woman, lived and died took on its present appearance in the second half of the 15th century. In 1475 it certainly belonged to the noble Andreasi family. It remained for a long time in the family's possession, including collateral branches, until 1780, when it passed as a dowry to the Magnaguti family. The last of the line, Count Alessandro Magnaguti, had it restored in 1924 and in 1926 offered it to the Dominican Imeldine Sisters of Venice, so that they could preserve the memory of the Blessed.
From 1934 three Dominican lay tertiaries of the Fraternità domenicana (Dominican Fraternity) of Mantua lived there until 1958. On the death of the Count in 1966, the piano nobile (main floor) was left to the Dominican Province as the permanent seat of the Fraternity. In 1991 the Province also bought the rest of the building from the parish, bringing it together into a single property that hosts Dominican and cultural initiatives.
The small building, at Via Pietro Frattini 9, retains its original structure almost intact and is a rare example of a 15th-century Mantuan house. Visitors can see the rooms on the ground floor, with traces of frescoes and a decorative band linked to the school of Giulio Romano; the garden with its frescoed loggia; the small chapel with relics; and the small museum room on the piano nobile, which displays objects connected with the Blessed, such as her gown and the original funerary mask.
