About the museum
Casa Memoria is the house in Cinisi where the Impastato family lived, and where Felicia Bartolotta, Peppino’s mother, spent decades pursuing her fight for truth and justice after the murder of her son, who was killed on 9 May 1978. Today it is a place of memory run by an association and open to schools, citizens and visitors.
The visit covers the life and activities of Peppino Impastato through photographs, original documents and his bedroom. From here the “Percorso di memoria dei 100 passi” starts: a guided walk to the former Casa Badalamenti, a property confiscated from the mafia, along which stumbling stones (pietre d’inciampo) have been placed. The route helps visitors understand the meaning of confiscated assets and how organised crime works.
The association also manages other places linked to Impastato’s story: Casa Felicia, a confiscated property with a garden of memory, commitment and biodiversity, and the Casolare Impastato, the farmhouse where Peppino was killed, which is open to the public on set dates.
