About the museum
The museum is located in the former San Paolo complex and is dedicated to Giordano Ferrari (1905–1987), a puppeteer and collector from Parma. The core of the collection is the Ferrari collection, which grew over time through three holdings: the collection of the journalist Franco Cristofori, that of the engineer Amilcare Adamoli and the fund of television puppets of the Gruppo 80 of Kitti Perria and Enrico Valenti.
The route holds more than 500 pieces, including marionettes, pupi, burattini, stage sets, photographs, posters and scripts, and is divided into two itineraries: the marionettes, arranged by theatre company and in chronological sequence, and the burattini, arranged by geographical origin. One room is dedicated to the Ferrari family. The museum is connected to a study centre and a specialised library.
