About the museum
The Centro Storico Fiat is housed in the Liberty-style building on Corso Dante in Turin, where the company was founded. The museum tells the story of the Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino through its production, starting with the 3½ HP of 1899, the first car built by the company.
The display includes historic cars, engines, models, artworks, sketches and advertising posters. The vehicles on show include the Eldridge Mefistofele of 1923, the Fiat 525 SS of 1929 and the 8V of 1952, a sports car with a fibreglass body designed by Luigi Rapi, alongside the Fiat 702 tractor of 1919, the 18BL lorry, a railcar (littorina) and the G91 fighter aircraft.
Attached to the museum is the historical archive, consultable by appointment, with almost 10,000 linear metres of documents, about 400,000 technical drawings, 5,000 volumes of magazines on the history of the automobile and industry, over 6 million images and 200 hours of period footage.
