About the museum
The Covarey visitor centre, in the municipality of Champdepraz, is the gateway to the Mont Avic Natural Park. It includes an information point with films, photographs and materials on the park and the network of Alpine protected areas, and a natural history museum devoted to the rocky habitats, wetlands and woods of the Chalamy valley, with interactive stations that invite visitors to discover the “parco segreto” (secret park), that is, the natural features that are easiest to overlook.
A multipurpose hall hosts educational activities, screenings, lectures and temporary exhibitions. The centre also has a model of the park and its surroundings at a scale of 1:5,000, showing boundaries, trails and landmarks.
