About the museum
The Museo Etnografico “Il Vomere – Museo a custodia del tempo” was founded in 2021 through collaboration between the Comune di Avigliana and the association La Famija ed Drubiaij. It is housed in a classroom of the former municipal school in the hamlet of Grangia and is the heir to the ethnographic collections gathered and catalogued in past years by teachers and students of the Scuola media Defendente Ferrari.
The museum holds objects, tools and evidence linked to rural life, which in the area lasted until the early decades of the 20th century. Over time residents have donated further objects and documents concerning the Oltre Dora area of Avigliana, that is, the localities of Drubiaglio, Grangia and Malano. Some corners of the display present small scenes of everyday life in the past.
Its purpose is to preserve the memory of the farming world and to rediscover the history of the territory, starting from private papers, public archives and historical studies. The visit is free of charge, accompanied by a guide, and by prior booking.
