About the museum
The Mil (“Mil” in Mòcheno, meaning mill) is an old water mill in the hamlet of Roveda di Frassilongo, in the Mòcheno Valley. The Istituto Culturale Mòcheno restored it and opened it to visitors as part of its network of museums.
The visit follows the route from grain to flour: water from the stream sets the gears and millstones in motion, surrounded by cereal fields. Guided tours and family activities show how grain was ground and bread was made; children can see how the water reaches the wheels, look at a reconstruction of the machinery and try grinding by hand.
Nearby there are wooden play installations, including a large xylophone and balance beams. The mill is normally open for visits from June to August, with group visits by reservation from May to October; however, for 2026 it remains temporarily closed.
