About the museum
The Fondazione Biscozzi | Rimbaud ETS was founded around the art collection assembled over more than forty years. The collection documents, with a deliberately personal viewpoint, an important part of Italian and international art of the 20th century, with particular reference to the period 1950–1980, and comprises over two hundred works including paintings, sculptures and prints. The general catalogue is edited by Roberto Lacarbonara and published by Silvana Editoriale.
The headquarters is in a small period palace in Piazzetta Baglivi, in the centre of Lecce, a few metres from Porta Napoli. The restoration, to a design by the Arrigoni studio, was carried out with criteria of functionality and elegance, respecting the architectural context. The visit route was devised by Paolo Bolpagni together with the architects Fabrizio and Marco Arrigoni.
On the first floor a selection of the most representative pieces of the collection is permanently displayed, in chronological order: from the origins of contemporary art to Informel in Italy and Europe, then geometric abstraction and kinetic-programmed art, analytical painting and research that go beyond the traditional boundaries of painting and sculpture. On the ground floor are part of the temporary exhibition spaces, the ticket office with bookshop, the teaching room, an inner courtyard and the art history library, also used for lectures and events.
