About the museum
The medieval settlement of Glozano lies in the Acquerino Biogenetic Nature Reserve, in the territory of Sambuca Pistoiese, and is one of the stops on the “Pietra” itinerary of the Ecomuseo della Montagna Pistoiese. Archaeological remains that emerged from research covering an area of about 1,600 square metres are visible in the forest reserve.
The excavations have also yielded pottery finds dating between the 10th and 12th centuries. These materials allow the site to be interpreted as a medieval monastic complex set in an Apennine forest landscape.
The site is run by the Associazione Ecomuseo della Montagna Pistoiese and can be visited with a guide during the summer season, at weekends. Outside the calendar, visits can be requested by calling the Ecomuseo’s toll-free number.
