About the museum
MUBA is the cultural institution of the municipality of Arborea dedicated to the history of the land reclamation of the area, rural modernisation and the electrification of contemporary Sardinia. The museum collects, preserves and displays materials and documents on the rural civilisation, urban history and environmental resources of Arborea, and will also preserve the municipality’s historic archive.
The museum is housed in a historic mill, an example of industrial archaeology restored with regional funds under Regional Law 37/1998. The museum’s logo recalls the plan of the four silos in which the grain and cereals processed in the building were stored.
Inside, an archaeological room holds the finds from the excavations of the S’Ungroni necropolis. The museum also organises exhibitions, educational activities, guided visits and lectures, and joins museum systems that promote its historical character; access is governed by regulations approved in April 2007.
