About the museum

The Museo Alfredo Binda was created in 1986 by the Comune di Cittiglio to commemorate its distinguished citizen, three times world champion and five times winner of the Giro d'Italia. The material made available by the family was catalogued and arranged in a documentary exhibition set up in the former primary school building, which over the years was visited by thousands of people.

In May 1995, on the occasion of the Giro d'Italia's passage through Cittiglio, the museum moved to the locality of Vararo, near the Cuvignone pass, a usual destination for amateur cyclists. Today it is on the first floor of the Ferrovie Nord station building, opposite the square named after the champion.

In a single large room are displayed rainbow jerseys and Italian champion jerseys, saddles, shoes and goggles, alongside the two Legnano bicycles used for the world titles of 1930 and 1932, the cornet Binda played in the village band, editions of the Gazzetta dello Sport, diplomas and photographs. One section also recalls his twenty years as head coach of the Italian national team.
