About the museum
The museum was founded in 1977 on the initiative of the historical-archaeological section of the E.M.A.V., with the support of the Soprintendenza alle Antichità di Torino (Turin heritage authority for antiquities) and the local administration, and it gathered finds from research carried out in the area. It was originally housed in the Chioso building and was later moved to the new town hall, Villa Soranzo.
The exhibition follows a chronological order to illustrate the cultures that succeeded one another in the area: it starts with the material of the Iron Age Golasecca culture and ends with finds from the Roman age. The display has an educational as well as a documentary focus.
