About the museum
The Fondazione Sangregorio Giancarlo is based in Via Cocquo, Sesto Calende. It was founded in 2011 at the wish of the sculptor Giancarlo Sangregorio (Milan 1925 – Angera 2013), who was first self-taught and then trained at the Accademia di Brera under Marino Marini. It aims to serve as a place of study and debate on the major themes and key figures of the contemporary avant-garde.
The foundation catalogues, conserves and promotes knowledge of the artist's works and acts as a cultural centre, with exhibitions, meetings, studies and lectures. It also runs a biennial award dedicated to a young sculptor.
