About the museum

The museum was founded in 1984 on the initiative of the “A. Manzoni” middle school: families of Buseto Palizzolo, prompted by teachers through their pupils, donated objects and tools that were no longer in use, allowing them to be saved. Later the municipality made a more suitable room available, and in 1989 the Museo della Civiltà Locale was opened in the Baglio Maranzano, the old Busith farmhouse, probably the residence of the Palizzolo family.

In 2016 the museum was moved to the Centro Enoturistico in Via Palermo, which also houses the Pro Loco, where it still is today.

The collections include everyday objects linked to domestic life and to work in the fields and workshops, grouped by trade: blacksmith, carpenter, cooper, farrier, shoemaker and farmer. Some domestic interiors have been reconstructed.
