Archaeological museum in the Rocca e del Sasso Nature Reserve in Manerba del Garda, with finds from prehistory to the Middle Ages; free admission.
August 5, 2026 – November 1, 2026
Temporary exhibition with free admission, set up in the museum of the Rocca di Manerba; creative workshops linked to the exhibition are planned from 25 to 31 October.
The museum has been active since 2009 within the Rocca e del Sasso Nature Reserve, at the foot of the road climbing to the Rocca di Manerba, in the hamlet of Montinelle. It is spread over three floors: archaeology on the ground floor, the Rocca and natural history on the first floor, and a specialised library on the second.
The archaeological route covers prehistory, the Roman period and the early Middle Ages. The main complexes include the Riparo Valtènesi (Copper Age, with a reconstruction of a funerary structure), the lake dwellings (palafitte) of San Sivino (Bronze Age, part of a UNESCO site since 2011), the necropolis of Campo Olivello and materials from the Roman villas of the area, including objects, architectural fragments and mosaics.
The first floor is devoted to the Rocca, a settlement present since the Neolithic, with medieval fortifications dismantled by the Republic of Venice in 1574, and to the fauna of the reserve and the lake. The museum also hosts exhibitions, lectures and educational activities.
Admission is free.
Free admission to the museum and the reserve, which is open all year.
