About the museum
The Museo Civico Carlo Verri in Biassono was founded in 1977 by the Gruppo di Ricerche Archeostoriche del Lambro (GRAL), after major archaeological discoveries in the area in 1975. From 1978 the archaeologist Ermanno Arslan was its honorary curator. The Regione Lombardia recognised it in 1980, and in those years the restoration of the Cascina Cossa began; the museum moved there in 1994.
The archaeology section presents local, national and international material, including Roman finds from Biassono, Briosco and Verano and prehistoric objects from Mariano Comense and Carate Brianza. The ethnographic section displays everyday tools, household objects and traditional costumes of the Brianza.
In 2006 the section “Segno Scrittura Stampa” was inaugurated, devoted to the evolution of communication from the origins of writing to the present day. In 2009 the separate section of Cascina Cà Nova was added, dedicated to agricultural work and rural life. The route also includes the courtyard and the ice house.
