About the museum
The Museo civico di Ostiano was set up by the municipality after the donation of the stuffed bird collection of Ermanno Bregoli of Gambara, in the Brescia area. The ornithological core comprises about 400 specimens representing 280 species from the Cremona area and around a hundred species from other regions. They are displayed in cases, arranged by order and family, with the place of capture indicated.
The other two sections are devoted to mineralogy, with samples and crystals arranged by class and microscopes for observing micro-crystals and sands from different parts of the world, and to medals and numismatics, with collections of medals and coins displayed in flat cases and largely donated by members of the Gruppo Hobbistico Ostianese.
The museum was set up and is run with the help of volunteers from the Gruppo Hobbistico Ostianese. It is currently closed for renovation work financed by a grant from the GAL Oglio Po, which the municipality won.
