About the museum
The museum opened on 7 December 2019 to showcase the artistic heritage of the parish of San Lorenzo, gathered in the 1990s. It is housed in the former building of the Disciplini di Santa Marta confraternity, near the shore of Lake Como and beside the parish church of San Lorenzo.
It is the only museum in the Lecco area devoted exclusively to sacred art. The route presents a fifteenth-century processional cross, a fresco of the Crucifixion from the 15th–16th century, a fifteenth-century sculpture of the Madonna and Child, the canvas of the Circumcision of Jesus by Francesco Zucco and two statuettes from the 17th-century ciborium of the parish church.
Liturgical vestments and a series of painted votive offerings (ex voto) from the church of Santa Maria Nascente in Debbio are also on display. The museum is part of the museum system of the Diocese of Como.
