Opening hoursAdmission €7
Website Directions

About the museum

The museum offers a route through eight rooms, tracing the poet's works and days, his life and his memory, with a considered use of interactivity and multimedia and with highly evocative objects, such as the casket in which the friars hid Dante's bones and the urn in which they were displayed in 1865 after their chance rediscovery.

It is on the first floor of the Franciscan convent complex, owned by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna, on the west side of the building facing Dante's Tomb. Next to it are the Library and the Centro Dantesco of the Conventual Friars Minor.

Founded in 1921 on an idea by Corrado Ricci as the Museo Dantesco comunale, it originally housed the memorabilia and plaques sent from all over the world for the celebrations of 1908 and 1921. Over time it was joined by the display of the collections and by an educational section of the Centro Dantesco, until it became the present Museo Dante.
