About the museum
The museum is in the basement of the Profondo Rosso shop, in Via dei Gracchi in Rome, and was set up by the director Dario Argento. The shop, named after his film Profondo Rosso, is a bookshop and a meeting place for fans of mystery, horror and science fiction.
In the rooms, deliberately dark and cell-like, original materials used in his films are on display, among them those from Phenomena, Opera, Demoni, La Chiesa and La sindrome di Stendhal, together with objects donated by Italian and foreign directors, such as the figure of Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare series. During the visit a recorded voice, that of a ghost guide, presents each item.
