About the museum
The Museo del Tessuto in Prato presents itself as the largest Italian cultural centre devoted to the promotion of ancient and contemporary textile art and production. In 2024 it celebrated fifty years since its foundation.
The exhibition route tells the story of the Prato textile district and presents fabrics, garments and objects from different periods. Among the collections, the Falletti donation stands out, with over 2,000 pieces including European fabrics, prints, books, accessories and historic weapons, presented in the exhibition “Tesori di seta” (Treasures of Silk).
The museum also hosts exhibitions, activities for families and schools, a café and a bookshop with publications and design objects.
