About the museum
The museum arose from the wish of the Trentino aviation pioneer Gianni Caproni (Massone di Arco, 1886 – Rome, 1957) and of his wife Timina, who from the early years of the company decided to preserve the main aircraft produced rather than dismantle them. Over time the collection was enriched with aircraft from other manufacturers and a substantial collection of works of art; in 1929 the Museo di Taliedo, in the province of Milan, was founded. The Museo Caproni is the first corporate museum in Italy.
The Trento seat was inaugurated in 1992 and houses an aeronautical collection of global importance, with some pieces of inestimable value. Since 1 July 2019 management has been entrusted to the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino.
Among the aircraft on display are the Ansaldo S.V.A. 5, the Caproni Ca.60 “Transaereo Noviplano”, the Fokker D.VIII, the Lockheed F-104G Starfighter and the Savoia Marchetti S.M.79. The museum has a conference room with 100 seats and a small bookshop.
