About the museum
The museum is in the centre of Segariu, in the Marmilla, and preserves the memory of the activity that for centuries shaped the village’s history: clay working. The area is known for kaolin and limestone turned into clay bricks and roof tiles, and for fired clay, an unusual activity compared with the agricultural landscape of the surrounding Campidano.
The display faithfully recreates a workshop producing the Segariu tile. The exhibition “Perdas e Minas” includes period photographs, work tools and faithful reproductions of the production processes. Visitors can watch and take part in the teaching workshops led by the clay craftsmen.
Every year in July, the tradition is celebrated at the “Tebajus” event, which combines tile production with local food products and craft exhibitions.
