About the museum
The museum was opened on 26 April 2003, on the occasion of the feast of the Madonna del Cuore, and preserves the memory of the Gerano infiorata tradition, which has remained unchanged for three hundred years. The infiorata takes place on the Sunday after 25 April.
The central room holds historical documents, antique tools of the master flower-carpet makers (infioratori) and information on the techniques used to make the carpets and on the flower species employed over time. A rich photographic archive documents the infiorate created in the village, in other Italian cities and abroad, including those made for special events such as the Jubilee.
The museum also includes a section on the traditional crafts of the community and a few archaeological finds.
